Peterson is a linguistically and ethnically diverse Chicago Public School, serving students in preschool- 8th grade in the North Park neighborhood.  Our zip code is one of the most diverse in the nation.

Peterson gives rise to College Graduates, Community Leaders, & Cultural Ambassadors.

  • Certified as an Exemplary SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) School

  • Designated by Chicago Public Schools as a STEAM School

  • Student attainment in reading is at the 83rd percentile school wide.

  • Student growth in reading is at the 81st percentile school wide.

  • Student attainment in math is at the 73rd percentile school wide.

  • 54 students participated in the cast and crew of our annual musical in 2018-19

  • 100% of students who took the 8th Grade Algebra exam passed in 2018

  • 188 students are in the three Peterson choirs from 3rd to 8th grade

  • Peterson Intermediate Choir was the only AA-level choir that received “Honors Superior” - the highest possible rating at the CPS Elementary Choral Festival in 2019
